NWRPC Opens Enterprise Center in Phillips Wisconsin

On November 16th, 2009, NWRPC officially opened an enterprise center in Phillips Wisconsin.  The Phillips enterprise center joins those already established in Grantsburg, Iron River, Medford, Siren and Spooner.  Those attending the ribbon cutting ceremony included: Myron Schuster (Executive Director NWRPC, Rick Roeser (Business Development Specialist NWRPC), Marge Bunce (Senator Herb Kohl), Bryce Luchterland (Governor Doyle), Wisconsin State Senator Russ Decker, Assembly Representative Mary Williams, Dennis Rodewald (Phillips Industrial Development Corporation president), mayor Jeff Fahl, several council members, Bob Kopisch (Price County Board Chair), and former chair Dan Racette.

D. R. Tech, Inc. in Grantsburg Receives Money

Northwest Regional Planning Commission Program Manager John Stroschine, pictured on the right, presents a Northwest Wisconsin Business Development Corporation check to D.R. Tech, Inc. President Rick Leffleman (center) and D.R. Tech, Inc. General Manger Jon Bram.  Equity funds along with funding from the Community Bank of Grantsburg and NWBDC were used to help the business expand its operations in the Town of Grantsburg.  The project is expected to retain 44 existing employees while creating an additional 12 full-time jobs over the next three years.

Dreamcatcher Sailing Charters in Bayfield Receives Money

John Stroschine, Program Manager for Northwest Regional Planning Commission (right) presents a Northwest Wisconsin Regional Economic Development Fund check for $25,000 to John and Mary Thiel owners of Dreamcatcher Sailing Charters. Proceeds of the check along with private bank and equity financing will be used to purchase an additional sailing vessel for the business.

Innomation, Inc. in Phillips Receives Money

CEO Carl Marschke. Proceeds of the loan will be used in part by the Phillips business to develop proprietary manufacturing equipment capable of producing innovative green building components.

Rocky Ridge Rental in Sawyer County Receives Money

John Stroschine Northwest Regional Planning Commission’s Program Manager presents a Northwest Wisconsin Regional Economic Development Fund revolving loan fund check for $25,000 to Rocky Ridge Rental owner Dina VanGilder. Proceeds of the loan will be used in part to purchase new rental equipment. Rocky Ridge Rental is located on state highway 48 east of the Village of Birchwood in Sawyer County. The business rents equipment and party supplies.

Greunke’s First Street Inn in Bayfield Receives Money

Judith Lokken-Strom owner and operator of Greunke’s First Street Inn (Bayfield) holds a revolving loan fund check for $20,000 that she received from the Northwest Wisconsin Regional Economic Development Fund. Proceeds of the check will be used to make improvements to the Inn. The Northwest Wisconsin Regional Economic Development Fund is administered by the Northwest Regional Planning Commission.

To the left is a photo taken of NWRPC Chairman Doug Finn presenting a joint check from the Douglas County revolving loan fund and Northwest Wisconsin Business Development Corporation revolving loan fund to Doug Stetzer President and CEO for Clearly Superior, Inc. Clearly Superior, Inc. produces a unique thickened water product (AquaCareH2O) that has the potential to attract a nationwide market. AquaCareH2O is designed to improve the quality of life for people suffering from dysphagia, a medical condition that impacts a persons ability to swallow. Potential patients include people suffering from strokes, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinsons disease, throat cancer, spinal cord injury and Alzheimers disease.

Burnett Dairy Cooperative Receives Money

John Stroschine, Program Manager for Northwest Regional Planning Commission on the right presents a Wisconsin Business Innovation Corporation revolving loan fund check for $250,000 to Burnett Dairy Cooperative President, Dan Strabel. The WBIC funds along with $725,000 of private funds will be used to upgrade the Dairys wastewater treatment system. The Burnett Dairy Cooperative currently employs over 180 area residents and has over 200 area dairy farm suppliers.

Kleiss Gears, Inc. in Grantsburg Receives Money

Northwest Regional Planning Commissions Program Manager John Stroschine, pictured on the right, presents a Wisconsin Business Innovation Corporation check for $150,000 to Kleiss Gears, Inc. owners Rod and Georgianne Kleiss, center and Doug Felsenthal V.P. of Sales and Marketing. Proceeds of the WBIC loan were used in part to purchase the plastic injection molding press pictured in the background. Kleiss Gears, Inc., located in the Village of Grantsburgs Industrial Park, designs and manufactures plastic gears for the medical, automotive and defense industries.

Northern Pines Resort Receives Money

Proceeds of the check along with additional financing from Northwoods CommunityCredit Union of Park Falls and owner equity will be used to construct and furnish five replacement cabins at the resort.
