Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG)

Wisconsin’s Division of Housing and Community Development has awarded money to be used towards owner-occupied housing repairs, renter-occupied housing repairs, and down payment and closing costs for renters seeking to purchase a home.

Under the owner-occupied housing rehabilitation program, zero percent, deferred-payment loan funds are available to make major repairs or replacement to:

  • heating
  • plumbing
  • electrical
  • siding
  • doors and windows
  • foundation and structure
  • roof
  • water or sewer laterals.

Under the home purchase program, renters seeking to purchase a home can receive zero percent, deferred-payment loan funds to be used to pay up to one-half of the required down payment and eligible closing costs.

Landlords may also make major repairs to rental units. Funds used on rental unit repairs will be subject to zero percent interest rates with up to ten years in which to payback the loan. Tenant income restrictions apply to the rental units for the first five years.
